Second up for the Thursday morning Waste lecture was two members who have started a business called ‘Restart’.

After doing some traveling and volunteer work in underdeveloped countries around the world the two speakers expressed their feeling of frustration when returning to the UK after seeing these poor areas working and living with what little resources and materials available to them and comparing that to the UK and the rate in which we consider products obsolete and throw them into waste. Through this frustration the two, have set up events where consumers can bring electronic products which are broken or have been causing issues and other consumers will try to help to fix them. Its this idea of bringing back repair, rather than creating more and more waste.

(below a link to their website, explaining more of what they do and their progress and success to date.)
